Maag Grupp brings meat and dairy businesses under one single management
28. February 2025The Maag Grupp will consolidate its meat and dairy brands under Maag Food OÜ. The company will continue to be managed by Silver Kaur, who until now has managed the group’s meat production and processing units.
Tere, Farmi, Deary and Meieri Transport, which are part of Maag Grupp’s subsidiary Nordic Milk, Estonia’s leading dairy company, will soon be merged into Maag Food. As of 2023, Maag Food has operated all the group’s businesses related to meat production in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – the largest and best-known brands are Rakvere, Tallegg and Rannarootsi in Estonia, Rigas Miesnieks in Latvia and Klaipedos Maistas in Lithuania. According to Silver Kaur, who will continue as CEO of Maag Food, the integration of businesses will help to create new synergies between the different industries within the group.
Unifying Nordic Milk with Maag Food will not lead to any changes in the current manufacturing activities or brands. “For consumers, the merger of those two companies will not change anything – the same brands and products will continue to be available on store shelves. We will continue production in all of our eight production sites across the Baltics,” Kaur said.
Roland Lepp, Chairman of the Board of the Maag Grupp, notes that bringing companies under single management is part of the group’s long-term strategy. “As Estonia’s leading food producer, our main objective is to expand our presence in international markets. This is a strategic decision that will allow us to improve the management processes in the above-mentioned companies, allocate our resources better, strengthen our market position and pursue faster growth, especially in export markets.”
Nordic Milk has so far been managed by Ülo Kivine, whose contract expires on the 7th of March and who will not continue with Maag Food. “Under Ülo’s leadership, we have strengthened our market position in the dairy sector, created Nordic Milk and the plant-based products brand Deary and, of course, many new products, as well as growing in export,” Lepp says. “I would like to thank the Council for the opportunity and the trust they´ve had in me to lead this company for two terms. I wish the new management team success, also in the consolidation process,” said Kivine.
Maag Food is Estonia’s largest food industry, employing nearly 2,300 people after the merger. The company’s consolidated turnover in 2024 was almost 400 million euros. In addition to Estonia, Maag Food also operates in Latvia and Lithuania.
Maag Food is part of the Maag Grupp, a group founded in 1996, based 100% on domestic capital, which combines various food processing companies.
