American-style cold smoked bacon 1 kg

Rakvere’s American-style bacon brings crispy bacon slices also to the Estonians’ table. Raw-smoked bacon is made from boneless pork belly cuts that have first been dried and then cold-smoked. Deliciously crispy, super-thin slices of streaky beef are a great accompaniment to a morning fried egg, but also for exciting recipes.

Pork (95%), flavourings (i.a. smoke flavouring), salt, antioxidant: E301, preservative: E250.

Preparation

We recommend cooking before eating. Cook the bacon until nice and crispy – just like the Americans do. Place the bacon slices in a single layer on a cold pan, do not add oil. Turn the stove to a lower-medium heat and cook the bacon slices, turning occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes, until the bacon is golden brown. This way, as much fat as possible will be cooked out of the bacon without burning the bacon itself. When cooking in the oven, place the bacon slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 15-20 minutes. A good tip: if too much fat forms when cooking in a pan or in the oven, simply pour less of it in the meantime. After cooking, drain the bacon between kitchen paper. If crispness is not a priority for you, you can also cook the bacon in the microwave. Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer between kitchen paper and cook for 3-4 minutes.
